Porridge Papers (founding city) Lincoln, NE – 2008-present

During the event, participants attend an open house where they compose original love notes on antique typewriters. Each note is left with a recipient’s address and hand-delivered by volunteers on Valentine’s Day. As the years have gone on the event has gotten larger and the space is a bit different. We clear out the studio the weekend before and set up all the decor. We have the photo booth where Aubrey and Josh from The Leekers’ Photography take a mini Polaroid of you to include with your note. Then there is the Library of Love if you’re needing a bit of inspiration, the DJ’s are spinning the sounds of love. Local businesses have donated coffee, cupcakes, cookies and cheese and crackers to sample while you compose your note. When you are all done we carefully help to roll it up and place it in a little glass bottle which is set inside a handmade bag with pink and white tissue! We even have a guest book for you to sign and also request that you sign the person’s name on the outside of our windows!

Now if that was not enough, we started Ladies Night in 2011. The Friday before is set aside for Ladies. It is a private event and due to the popularity of it, starting in 2014 it will be invite only. All I can say is “wow!” what a night it is!

If you have never been, this is your year!
